1. In three words – what does Cairns mean to you?
Sun, sun and more sun!
2. What was your first ever job?
My first job was helping my parents at the market to set up and sell fruit and veggies. I did this from when I was eight years old.
3. For people just starting their own business – what are your 3 success
tips?
The first, is the love for what you do, the second, is perseverance and the third is reliability.
4. What business decision or action have you taken that has had a
beneficial impact on Cairns?
Doing what I am doing today, clowning and entertaining people.
5. What do you dislike most about your industry?
I suppose what you call stage fright. I don’t think that you ever get over that one, it’s part of the job.
6. What motivates you most to go to work each day?
What motivates me is that I don’t have to work each day
7. If you had an opportunity to change careers for a month – what would
you do?
A pilot; although the Charlie Chaplain outfit may put some of the passengers off.
8. Have you ever had a great idea or innovation that wish you had the
time to pursue?
No but I have alot of little projects that seem great at the time.
9. If you could change one thing about your past, what would it be?
I think it is all at the right place for the right reason, you can’t change anything.
10. Tell us something we don't know about you?
I was born on the same day as Charlie Chaplin, the 16 of April and I am also left handed like him as well. I didn’t know this when I started to impersonate him and found out much later. I also confess that I never studied him in any way or form until today. Isn’t that spooky?
11. Who do you aspire to?
No one – I’m happy with who I am.
12. If you could re-live one moment in your life – what would it be?
The birth of my two children.
13. If you could invite someone famous for dinner (dead or alive) – who
would it be?
I was performing at the Americas Cup in the early eighties and some French people invited me to lunch and asked me to perform. Unknown to me Marcel Marceau was at the lunch - I would like to do that again!
14. When was your last overseas holiday and where?
My last holiday was last year in France with my children. We spent time visiting some of my relatives.
15. What’s your favourite journey?
24 years ago I rode around India by bicycle that was it!
16. Your favourite time of day?
Sunrise
17. Your favourite restaurant for that Friday afternoon lunch?
Donnini’s Ciao Italia, The Pier.
18. What music or radio station do you listen to in your car?
Radio National and sometimes the local radio, if they have some good music
19. Your favourite author or book?
Osho [Bagwan Shree Rajneesh] - The Book of the Book
20. What will you be doing when you’re 80?
Hopefully something creative.
