Community Engagement
Community engagement is about involving the community and other stakeholders in the decision making process and is critical to the successful development of policies and decisions, and the provision of community facilities and services by government; as well as property and commercial developers in the private sector.
Community engagement includes community consultation, but also goes beyond this to include, the more active processes in which communities play a greater role in actually formulating plans or influencing local developments. This can include formal partnerships between statutory agencies, local government, developers, stakeholders and community representatives.
